SUBJECT: "Out of the Fogg" Staff Show

The Harbor Gallery at the University of Massachusetts, Boston has invited the HUAM staff to exhibit their annual "Out of the Fogg" art show. The show will run from September 29th to October 19th. The opening will be Friday, September 29th from 5pm to 7pm. Work can be "dropped off" at the Sackler basement at the exhibition area from 12:30 to 3:30 on Wednesday, September 20 and on Thursday, September 21. My staff and I will pick up the art work on Friday, September 22. The date work will be returned has yet to be scheduled.

Unlike past "Out of the Fogg" shows, 3-d work will be exhibited. Also, as director, I welcome those Staff members who may work in a medium that might be or is considered "craft" to exhibit their work. However, for those wishing to exhibit 3-d work they must contact the gallery at the beginning of September. My staff and I will need to know the dimensions of the work beforehand, so we can have the appropriate pedestals and mounting materials ready.

Each artist will have to fill out 3 forms before their work will be transported to the Harbor Gallery. The first form will be a contract/liability waiver form. The Harbor Gallery does not charge any fees or commission, thus we do not have any funds for insurance. Each artist will have to fill out information for each work: Artist, Title, Date, Size, Medium etc.... I am also requesting that each artist include in 50 words or less an artist's statement. One could include, if their work being exhibited is part of a series, where they exhibited in the past or if they are going to be exhibiting in the near future etc... The information from this statement will help my staff to represent both the artist and their work in a more professional manner. NO ART WORK WILL BE TRANSPORTED TO THE HARBOR GALLERY IF THESE FORMS ARE NOT FILLED OUT!!!

Each artist will be able to leave up to 4 works. Please realize that all of the art work "dropped off" might not be exhibited. Depending on how many Staff members choose to exhibit and the size of the works "dropped off" some of the art work may have to be edited in order for the show to fit into the gallery space (the gallery is 145 running feet). HOWEVER, this does not mean that some people will be excluded from the show. Each artist will have at least one work exhibited, if not more.
