care of, and the expense of maintenance and security because of the value of this material.
In addition, despite the gains in the acquisition of works of art of the Baroque, Rococo, and Modern periods, there is relative weakness in the fields of Renaissance and Medieval and Nineteenth-Century art, and even a loss from the point of view of percentage.
Still another factor is the cost of exhibitions and the consequences. The resulting limitation on our capacity to borrow or rent exhibits may not be wholly disadvantageous, since it necessitates the utmost discrimination, but it also means that our permanent collection must be sufficiently large and excellent to permit changes in our exhibition program and to encourage a return to view familiar objects. Only thus can we attract new members and hold the interest of our older friends.
Finally, the importance of the organ housed in the Museum should not be overlooked. This is a world-famous example of modern organ building on eighteenth-century principles. Although it is not the property of the Museum, it is available to us for concerts of the highest quality, of great interest to the community and to our members, many of whom have not been able to hear in part because of the opportunity, through membership, to hear this organ played. The cost of holding concerts is fairly large, and we do not have enough funds to make the most of this opportunity. An all additional investment here might eventually pay for itself in terms of new members.
In view of the constantly growing number of visitors, the increase in the number of Association members, the number of loans made to other museums and institutions, and the use of all sorts, it seems justifiable to assume that there is an increasing interest in what the Museum represents. The recommendations which follow are based on the belief that the Museum plays a meaningful role within the University and in the community.
The most urgent need of the Museum is additional endowment (a minimum of $200,000), to be used for:

The image shows a page from a document, likely a report or a proposal, related to a museum. The text discusses various challenges and needs of the museum. Here is a detailed summary of the content:
Maintenance and Security: The document mentions the high cost of maintaining and securing valuable materials, which is a significant expense for the museum.
Acquisition of Artworks: There have been gains in acquiring works from the Baroque, Rococo, and Modern periods. However, there is a deficit in acquiring artworks from the Renaissance, Medieval, and Nineteenth-Century periods, resulting in a percentage loss.
Exhibitions and Budget Limitations: The cost of exhibitions and their consequences limit the museum's capacity to borrow works from other institutions. This necessitates having a large and excellent permanent collection to attract visitors and members.
Importance of the Organ: The museum houses a world-famous organ, which is not the museum's property but is available for concerts. This organ is a significant attraction for the community and university, and it helps in increasing membership. However, holding concerts is costly, and a small additional investment might be beneficial.
Growing Number of Visitors and Members: The increasing number of visitors and association members indicates a growing interest in the museum. This suggests a need for additional endowment to support the museum's role within the university and community.
Urgent Needs: The document outlines the most urgent needs of the museum, which require a minimum additional endowment of $200,000. These needs include:
The text emphasizes the importance of addressing these needs to maintain and enhance the museum's operations and attractions.
The image shows a close-up photograph of a printed document that appears to be part of a report or informational booklet. The document is on the right-hand side, and the open page shows the end of one section on the left page continuing onto the right page. The visible page numbers are '-2-' on the left and '-3-' on the right. The text discusses various topics concerning a museum, such as the maintenance and security of art materials, the acquisitions of artworks from different periods and their relative weaknesses, the limitations on exhibitions due to cost, and the importance of an organ housed in the museum as a community asset.
Specific points mentioned include concerns about the cost of exhibitions and the resulting limitations on the capacity to borrow or rent exhibits, the centrality of a permanent collection, the museum's organ as a source of interest in the community, the high cost of holding concerts, and a suggestion that additional investment may pay off in terms of new members.
Furthermore, the document outlines the growing number of visitors and association members, the justification for loans made to other museums, the wide interest in what the museum represents, and its role within the university and community. It also highlights the museum's urgent need for additional endowment of $200,000 for various purposes, including a purchase fund for works of art, a publication fund for catalogs, monographs, and a handbook of the collections, as well as improvements to the building, such as elevator and shipping facilities.
On the left edge of the image, we can also see the edge of another page, indicating that the report or booklet has multiple pages. The document is slightly curled, and the text, while mostly sharp, is slightly blurred due to the curvature of the pages. There's a shadow cast across the image, most likely from the lighting when the photo was taken.
